Alicante

The name in the literature is Alicante Bouschet. It is mostly grown in the Eagean Region in Turkey. It is the only variety with a red must among the black grapes. Although it can give high yields, the acidity is rather low. This is why it is not used on its own. But because of its ability to give intense color, this variety is preferred in blends. For a very long period, Alicante has ben the most widely planted variety in France.

Food Match: The table wines produced from Alicante have a great harmony with red meat, hard-yellow cheese, dishes with tomato sauce and kebabs.
