ELAZIĞ

Elazığ is a historical region where two important varieties, Boğazkere and Öküzgözü are grown. It is known that the region hosts vineyards since the Hittite and Urartu civilisations. Although the natural water sources such as Lake Hazar, Euphrates (Fırat) River and its tributaries and the big dam lakes has o moderating effect on the climate, in Elazığ mostly continental climate reigns. With cold and snowy winters and hot summers with no rainfall, Elazığ is still a very suitable location for viniculture.
